INTERGECTION 


 In the English language, among the different parts of speech, interjections are the most used in everyday communication.

 

what is interjection?

 

An  interjection is a part of speech used to convey or express sudden feelings and emotions. There are no particular rules as to where interjections should be placed in a sentence, but most often, they are seen to appear in the beginning of a sentence. They are used to form exclamatory sentences.

 

 An interjection is a part of speech that reveals the emotions of the speaker. An interjection is typically punctuated with an exclamation point.

 

 

MEANING ACCORDING TO DICTIONARIES:-

 

  An interjection, according to the Oxford Learner’s Dictionary, is defined as “a short sound, word or phrase spoken suddenly to express an emotion.” The Cambridge Dictionary defines an interjection as “a word that is used to show a short sudden expression of emotion.” The Collins Dictionary defines an interjection as “a word or expression which you use to express a strong feeling such as surprise, pain, or horror.”

 

Some most commonly used interjections are: Hurray! , Alas! , Oh! , Wow! ,....etc.

2.) Alas! Alas! it was not to be.

3.) Oh! :  Oh! That's shocking!

3.) Wow! : Wow! you look so great today.
